This impactful event was designed to raise awareness and promote actionable knowledge around the safety, health, and general wellbeing of the girl child in the Abigi community. The outreach aimed to provide young girls with critical information on how to recognize and respond to threats, especially in relation to sexual abuse, personal wellness, and community support systems.
The program featured several key sessions. Mrs. Busayo S. Eniade, the Project Manager of Anwojue Hope Foundation, delivered a compelling presentation on wellness and the importance of understanding bodily autonomy. She encouraged the girls to prioritize their health, speak up about uncomfortable experiences, and always seek help when needed.
The NYCN Representative of Ogun Waterside gave a strong message on youth advocacy, emphasizing the importance of peer support and courage in standing up against abuse. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) engaged the girls with a security talk on how to stay safe, report abuse, and understand their rights within the law. His session reassured the participants about the availability of law enforcement support and safe channels for reporting incidents.
The King of Abigi Kingdom offered inspiring words of encouragement, emphasizing the value of education and community unity in protecting and nurturing the girl child. Adding to this, the Queen also addressed the girls with a heartfelt message focused on wellness, personal development, and the unique strength of every young girl. Her words further uplifted the participants, reinforcing the importance of dignity, self-care, and resilience.
The event successfully reached 100 schoolgirls from across Ogun Waterside, empowering them with life-saving knowledge and confidence. Participants left with a renewed sense of self-worth, pack of sanitary pad each and practical steps to ensure their safety and wellness within their homes, schools, and communities.
