A RECAP OF 2021

Man is a mine rich in gems of limitless potential: Such a view of human beings does not permit to regard people as helpless victims nor as passive recipients of aid. Rather, development work based on such views tries to tap into the vast pool of capacities of local people and empowers them to become the protagonists of their own development.

It is evident that we have come a long way since Anwojue Hope Foundation was founded. The Foundation has continued to evolve and materialize its efforts to modernize and professionalize its work – a continuing effort of bringing smiles to the faces of many for several years now. In addition to the wonderful news regarding our projects, we have of course continued our commitment in the area of public awareness. All of these are what made 2021 a great year for Anwojue Hope foundation, providing us an opportunity to reach many youths and talk to them about the importance of education, awareness and sexual orientation while discussing the opportunities for them to get actively involved.

A new year full of activities is opening up to us and we hope to continue our momentum and meet the challenges that will come our way.

On behalf of Anwojue Hope foundation Foundation, we would like to thank the office team, our donors, collaborators and supporters who, each in their own way, contribute to our activities and make our actions possible. Without a doubt, the root of this relationship is trust, and we are deeply honoured by this.

In this report, we welcome you to read about some of the year’s highlights. We hope you enjoy it, and please contact us if you have any questions.

GIRL CHILD INITIATIVE

we commemorated the Menstrual Hygiene day on the 28th of May 2021 with Monthly Pad a Girl Programs in both Osun and Ogun States, reaching schools like Obafemi Owode High school. We were able to get up to 200 girls, educating them on menstrual management, menstrual health and hygiene and correct usage of menstrual pads while distributing sanitary pads to all students present at each event.

Furthermore, as part of the Girl Child Initiative, we commemorated the International Day of Girl Child on the 11th October 2021 with the support of Guardian Media campaign to End Female Genital Mutilation. We hosted a talk for Girls where girls from 5 schools in Owode were invited and were educated on what FGM is and also their rights as a Girl Child.

EMPOWERMENT

We had a skill acquisition and empowerment program for 20 women who were taught about job productivity and profit making by starting small. These women were taught various skills and were also empowered with cash sums of N100.000:00 (One Hundred Thousand Naira only).

These 20 women joined the program with little or nothing to do to make ends meet but were left empowered with money and a skill to sustain the faith Anwojue Hope Foundation has in them. Our duty is to keep monitoring them, ensuring positive growth and also keep assisting in their growth in any way possible.

CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Community schools for children with special needs offer education for children who require assistance for disabilities that may be medical, mental, or psychological and are exclusively managed by members of the local community. Teachers are systematically trained and then the state starts a community school in a local government. Starting simple and small, schools develop and grow organically depending on the available local resources.

One of these is Daniel Akintonde Model School for Children with Special Needs, Adigbe, Abeokuta where Anwojue Hope Foundation celebrated the end of the year with an end of the year party with the students of the school. It started with a Christmas carol service and capped it with distribution of several gifts to the students present at the occassion.
