{"id":10383,"date":"2021-06-21T15:47:06","date_gmt":"2021-06-21T15:47:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/anwojuehopefoundation.org\/?p=10383"},"modified":"2021-07-13T12:56:21","modified_gmt":"2021-07-13T12:56:21","slug":"skills-acquisition-capacity-building-for-widows-orphans-and-sanitary-pads-distribution-for-girl-child-disscusing-2021-roadmap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anwojuehopefoundation.org\/?p=10383","title":{"rendered":"SKILLS ACQUISITION, CAPACITY BUILDING FOR WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND SANITARY PADS DISTRIBUTION FOR GIRL CHILD -DISSCUSING 2021 ROADMAP"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1><strong>CONCEPT NOTE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF 2021 ACTIVITIES ON SKILLS ACQUISITION, CAPACITY BUILDING FOR WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND SANITARY PADS DISTRIBUTION FOR GIRL CHILD<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Background<\/h2>\n<p>More than 82million Nigerians live on less than $1 a day according to the National Bureau of Statistics.<\/p>\n<p>The issue of poverty amongst widows is particularly troublesome since they have fewer possibilities to recover from a drop of income which follows widowhood.<\/p>\n<p>It has been identified that loss of spousal earning are contributors to the rate of poverty and economic hardship amongst widows.<\/p>\n<p>To this end, it therefore becomes necessary and imperative to seek for ways and means to alleviate the plight of widows.<\/p>\n<p>The ordeal of widow\u2019s can be alleviated through entrepreneurship skill acquisition.<\/p>\n<p>Entrepreneurship skill acquisition is a process whereby a person acquires or learns a particular skill or type of behavior needed for business through training or education which in turn guarantees their financial security, economic stability and self-reliance.<\/p>\n<p>These skills are learnt and taught to individuals. They are not necessarily innate. They include such vocational skills as dress making, hair dressing, bead work, craft making, cosmetology which deals with the production of liquid soap, disinfectants, hair cream, perfume, tye and dye, food preparation, interior and exterior decoration e.t.c.<\/p>\n<p>Also, Adolescence is a critical period that can determine the trajectory of a girl\u2019s life.<\/p>\n<p>It is a stage where key investment and support can set girls on a path towards empowerment, or where discrimination, recurrent constraints, harmful practices and violence can send them down a negative spiral with lifelong consequences, not just for themselves, but for the society and future generations.<\/p>\n<p>When adolescent girls are empowered, it benefits all.<\/p>\n<p>Empowered girls grow into empowered women who can care better for themselves and their families, increase their earning potential, serve as active and equal citizens, change agents, and spur economic growth for communities and nations.<\/p>\n<p>Empowering adolescent girls through education, technical and vocational education and training as well as life skills, social support, knowledge and participation at this particularly vulnerable stage can help end the cycle of poverty, violence before it persists or even before it begins.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>PROBLEM STATEMENT<\/h2>\n<p>Discrimination, vulnerability and social norms put adolescents, widows, and orphans at the risk of violence, compromising their safety, feeding and health.<\/p>\n<p>Violence can happen to any set of people ranging from children to adults.<\/p>\n<p>Supporting vulnerable groups through education, vocational training and technical training is a way of alleviating poverty and building the children\u2019s capacity.<\/p>\n<p>It is therefore important for the organization to focus on two thematic areas in other to reach these vulnerable groups and move beyond giving sanitary pads to girls and giving support money.<\/p>\n<h2>Goals<\/h2>\n<p><em>To build and sustain 100 widows,100 orphans, 1000 girl child through skill acquisition and capacity building.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Objective (s).<\/h2>\n<p><em>To reduce poverty rate and build self confidence of widows, orphans, girl child and other vulnerable group.<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Strategies<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Investing in adolescent girls, widows, orphan to equip them with skills, confidence and life options: through family, schools, technical and vocational education and training, and health, social and economic support systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0Making infrastructure, services and technology accessible for widows, orphans, physically challenged and girl children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitating adolescent girls\u2019 engagement in civic, economic and political life<br \/>\nContinuous advocacy for the support of widows, orphans, girls and other vulnerable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Expected Output (s)<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Improvement in the lives of widows, orphan, physically, girls and other vulnerable groups<\/li>\n<li>Building self confidence in the vulnerable group.<\/li>\n<li>Creation of a source of income for the widows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2>Targeted Group<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Widows<\/li>\n<li>Orphans<\/li>\n<li>Girls<\/li>\n<li>And other vulnerable groups<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Proposed Location<\/h2>\n<p>3 Local Governments Areas in Ogun State and 2 Local Government Areas in Osun State<br \/>\nImplementing organisation<br \/>\nAnwojue Hope Foundation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CONCEPT NOTE FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF 2021 ACTIVITIES ON SKILLS ACQUISITION, CAPACITY BUILDING FOR WIDOWS, ORPHANS AND SANITARY PADS DISTRIBUTION FOR GIRL CHILD &nbsp;
